Open Mic Night is beyond Standing Room Only!
Twice this month, the DMH Saturday Open Mic Night almost needed to knock down a wall or two for the amount of performers and listeners who came. This recent Saturday’s list of performers took nearly 4 hours just for everyone to play 3 songs each.
The evening began with our OMN Featured band, “Rare Breed”, a band from the area that although young, played with accuracy and talent as if they were much older and experienced. They played for about 20 minutes and had brought many of their fans and we thank them for getting the word out about David’s Music House being the “cool” place to play.
The rest of the evening was filled with artists of all ages, some of who are familiar faces and some new faces. Every week we see a lot of new faces which shows how the word continues to spread about ‘da House.
Open Mic Nights are an exciting event we all look forward to each week and the amazing thing is that each week, for about 2 hours before OMN begins, we wonder if many will be coming at all, only to find ourselves with a flood of wonderful talent from the community and many who just come to listen.
David’s Music House continues to show the community of the South Hills that we are a place to come to and get away from the “hectic world” of bad news and forget about their troubles for an evening. Sharing a love of music and the arts by playing music and listening to the way a performer pours their souls into musical expression is a pretty good way to end a long week or hard day. That’s what we of David’s Music House are here for…to provide a place of laughter, comfort, bonding, playing and listening to the “universal language of music”.
