Saturday, Saturday… Saturday Night’s Alright!

Those are some of the lyrics from Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” song from his album, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” Now, there’s not going to be any fighting goin’ on in ‘da House, unless it’s over who gets the last Pumpkin or Oreo Cupcake! See below for all the details on why Saturday Night’s Alright.

It’s February and it’s a leap year, so we have one extra day during this winter. Hopefully, it will be a mild weather day for us in the Burg. We will be celebrating a few things this month, in addition to February 29th, which only happens once every four years, we have:

Feb 2 – Groundhog Day

Feb 14 – Valentine’s Day

Feb 19 – Smokey Robinson’s Birthday

Feb 20 – Presidents’ Day (Washington’s Birthday)

Feb 26 – Johnny Cash’s Birthday

Look to our website’s Event Calendar for ALL that’s going on in ‘da House.

This is a doubly awesome month for the Lindberg household as it’s Anita’s birthday on Feb. 25th… (not saying how young she is)…  and Feb 14th, Valentine’s Day is our “19th” wedding anniversary! WOW, I can’t believe it! They have gone by so quickly and are SO FULL of the most amazing memories. I can not tell everyone enough… how blessed I am to have Anita in my life and how David’s Music House would NOT exist if it were not for Anita!

DMH continues to give young talent a venue with a great stage and sound to learn how to perform to an audience. A few days ago, Val DaPra, the drum teacher from the Guitar Gallery, down the road from us on Rt. 19 brought up a 5 piece percussion group to be our featured performance for our regular Open Mic Night. We often feature someone at the beginning of our open mic night to give young musicians a forum to see what its like to perform on stage to an audience and to let their fans come see them perform.

You can watch a video of the performance here.

We are making BIG changes to our music events starting in February as well. Most all of our performances will all be on Saturday nights. We will be alternating our Open Mic Nights with our Concert performances. Open Mic Nights will occur on the second and forth Saturday’s of each month. This will give everyone two times a month to make sure they schedule when they want to perform. Holding our concerts on Saturdays will give the community music lovers a chance to see a concert on a Saturday night when they like to go out for the evening. I remember when I worked Monday – Friday, when Friday night came, I just wanted to stay in the house!

DMH will continue to search for performers for various evenings of entertainment, but if you are not sure about what is going on, if you come on a Saturday night, you will find that Saturday Night’s Alright… Alright for MUSIC in ‘da HOUSE!
